How to Play
Five minutes is enough. The in-game tutorial walks you to your first battle, but here is what helps to know up front.
The map: three command points a turn
- You spend 3 command points a turn. Moving, sending a supply train, refitting, scouting and digging in cost 1 each.
- Select a unit and gold rings show where it can move, red rings where it can attack. You see the odds before you attack.
- Only units linked to the depot by rail get ammo and morale from trains. If the track is cut, use "Repair Track".
- The "What to Do Now" bar at the top tells you the next step in one line.
Battles: command in person
- Tap (click) to fire a volley there. Reload while the bar is in the gold zone for a stronger shot.
- Use artillery where enemies bunch up, cavalry charges on long lines, bayonets on enemies right in front of you.
- Split your squad to strike from both sides, and drop the officer with the flag first to break enemy morale.
- Choose a formation (line, skirmish, column) before the fight. Win and each bonus objective adds map supply.
- Line — Balanced standard formation
- Skirmish — Enemy accuracy −22% · Your accuracy −6%p
- Column — Bayonet +1 · Reload −10% · Enemy accuracy +15%
Battle camp
- Train soldiers at the Command Tent, have Sappers build sandbags, tents and a field hospital, and research upgrades.
- Busy? Hand it to your adjutant and production and research run automatically.
Controls
- Phone: landscape, everything by tap and drag. The back button closes windows and pauses.
- PC: left-click to select, right-click to order, number keys and Space as shortcuts.
Small tips
- Isolated units get caught in pincers. Keep friends next to them.
- When a blizzard is forecast, move into towns with a roof.
- Choosing to evacuate civilians is remembered all the way to the ending.
